PLAST2bCLEANED at the LCM 2023

by Plast2bCleaned

In September 2023,  the PLAST2bCLEANED project actively participated in the 11th International Conference on Life Cycle Management, LCM 2023, held in Lille. Špela Ferjan took the stage during the event, delivering a presentation focused on the “Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the Newly Developed Recycling Technology for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) in the EU Funded PLAST2bCLEANED Project.” The presentation addressed the critical issue of contamination within Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment waste, underscoring the project’s commitment to developing a recycling solution that is both environmentally sound and economically viable.

At LCM 2023, PLAST2bCLEANED’s initiatives and advancements in tackling the challenges of WEEE plastics were spotlighted. The presentation by Špela Ferjan provided a comprehensive overview of the environmental implications of the newly developed recycling technology. This participation in the conference not only highlighted the project’s dedication to addressing environmental concerns but also contributed valuable insights to the broader discourse on life cycle management, further solidifying PLAST2bCLEANED’s position as a key player in sustainable waste management practices.

PLAST2Bcleaned participates at Innovatieexpo 2021

by Plast2bCleaned

TNO, coordinator of the PLAST2bCLEANED project participated on April 8 at the Innovatieexpo 2021 online expo to showcase the project.

During its presentation, the official video of the project was presented to the audience and the main goals to date were shown.

Innovatieexpo 2021 addressed the circular economy, energy and urban mobility innovations developed in the Netherlands.

PLAST2bCLEANED attends AMI Fire Resistance in plastics

by Plast2BeCleaned

On February 23 to 25, Lein Tange, Sustainability Director at ICL Group and the partner responsible for bromine recovery within PLAST2bCLEANED, attended AMI Fire Resistance in plastics online conference.

Lein presented PLAST2bCLEANED, together with Mark Leifer, as part of the paper entitled ‘Who is afraid of brominated flame retardants’.

PLAST2bCLEANED will close three loops using dissolution under superheated conditions by separation of polymer, bromine and antimony trioxide.

Due to the cooperation with the PolyStyreneLoop demoplant, the styrenics value chain is already mapped and will be linked to the PLAST2bCLEANED project.

PolyStyreneLoop demoplant is set up to demonstrate the feasibility of a large-scale demo plant as a closed-loop solution for the recycling of polystyrene insulation foam waste and the recovery of bromine.

First EASME Workshop on Innovative methods to remove hazardous substances and contaminants from secondary raw materials for the circular economy

by Plast2BeCleaned

On January 29, PLAST2bCLEANED attended the first EASME online Workshop on Innovative methods to remove hazardous substances and contaminants from secondary raw materials for the circular economy.

PLAST2bCLEANED presented the main achievements to date in relation to key EU policies and initiatives and later, together with other sister projects like NONTOX, Circular Flooring, CREATOR, REMADYL, REACT and PURENANO, there was a discussion to identify and discuss the policy contributions by all projects.

Likewise, there were some round tables, where synergies on collaborations among projects were addressed.

PLAST2bCLEANED at Plastics Recycling Show Europe

by Plast2bCleaned

On December 11, Mathilde Taveau, Recycling Plastics Engineer and Project Manager at Coolrec, participated at Plastics Recycling Show Europe 2020 on behalf of PLAST2bCLEANED.

In a session dedicated to Material recycling & Technical Plastics, Mathilde showcased the project progress to date and the bromine, antimony trioxide and polymer to be treated within the project.

The PRSE Virtual conference examined the latest developments in plastics recycling and practical solutions for the circular and sustainable use of plastics, dealing with plastic waste and better design for recycling. Materials focus sessions explored in depth the challenges, issues and opportunities within the sector for plastics recycling.
