PLAST2bCLEANED presented at FRPM

by Plast2bCleaned

On June, 26 to 28, Lein Tange, Product Stewardship Manager at ICL, attended the European meeting on Fire Retardant Polymeric Materials (FRPM), hosted in Turku (Finland) to present the PLAST2bCLEANED project.

Likewise, within the congress framework, Lein, as responsible for the project’s stakeholder engagement, stablished some possible cooperation lines with the projects NONTOX, CREATOR and PSLoop.

The FRPM 2019 edition showcased the latest trends and innovation developments related to flame retardants for all types of polymeric materials, chemical safety and regulations, fire modelling & simulations and recent advances in fire testing technology.

PLAST2bCLEANED ‘s overall aim of is to develop a human and environmental safe recycling process for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) plastics in a technically feasible and economically viable manner.

PLAST2bCLEANED, a recycling process for WEEE plastics

by Plast2bCleaned

PLAST2bCLEANED , a project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement N. 821087, has officially started this June with the aim of developing a recycling process for WEEE plastics in a technically feasible, environmentally sound and economically viable manner.

To fulfil this aim, PLAST2bCLEANED will address the recycling of the most common WEEE plastics acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS) that contain up to 20wt% brominated flame retardants (BFR) and up to 5wt% of the synergist antimony trioxide (ATO). PLAST2bCLEANED will close three loops: (1) polymer, (2) bromine, and (3) ATO.

The consortium working to achieve these project goals is lead by TNO and formed by Fraunhofer, Coolrec, ICL, Gaiker, Sustainable Innovations, Electrolux, Campine, Elix and Juchheim.

PLAST2bCLEANED kick off meeting

by Plast2bCleaned

The PLAST2bCLEANED Kick off meeting took place in Leiden (The Netherlands) in June 11 and 12. During two days all the consortium partners were able to present their responsibilities within the project and, in the evening, all of us had the opportunity to take a delicious meal together to get to know us better!
